Hot and cold stages provide a temperature-controlled environment for applications where optical access to a heated or cooled sample is required. These stages are ideal for applications including microscopy, spectroscopy, FTIR, and X-ray scattering. The stage is thermally stable, leak tight to allow vacuum or gases and should be simple to use. The thermal block is a good conductor typically a silver or similar metal body. The temperature controller on these stages is very critical and often it decides the performance of the thermal stage. Optical window materials such as Quartz, Glass, Sapphire can be used. These stages cover a temperature range from -190°C up to 1500°C depending on the model. Some of the stages designed primarily for upright and inverted microscopes. Stages can be ordered with special features such as vacuum or gas-tight chambers, extra-wide viewing apertures, and dual heating. The selection guide can help you to find a stage which meets your needs.
